The OraPure Toothbrush Sterilizer functions to eliminate unwanted and harmful bacteria, fungi and viruses that reside on your toothbrush. Using the patented UV and oxygen activating sterilizing lamp, up to 99.9% of these germs are eradicated from your toothbrush in approximately 7 minutes. This UV lamp provides a dual mechanism for sterilization. UV-c, also known as germicidal UV emits sufficient doses to eliminate dangerous microorganisms. A second wavelength functions to generate activated oxygen, a naturally occurring molecule which is the second most powerful sterilant in the world. At this wavelength range the natural oxygen is activated and links up with a free oxygen atom, thus forming activated oxygen. Upon coming into contact with germs, activated oxygen undergoes an oxidation reaction which releases one oxygen atom, thereby regenerating the natural oxygen that we breathe. Activated oxygen acts attacking the nucleus of microorganisms, resulting in their demise. Combined, uv-c and activated oxygen form a formidable team for the sterilization of your toothbrush.
